Life & Work
I am a technologist, advisor, and writer. My life has taken me from migrant farm labor in California’s Central Valley to senior leadership roles in Silicon Valley.
A graduate of UC Berkeley in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, I have held executive positions at Microsoft, AMD, Meta, and Two Sigma, working across cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, AI, and financial technology. I received the university’s Distinguished EECS Alumni Award in 2020.
Through the company I founded, Ascend Logic, I advise senior executives and engineering teams on AI, cybersecurity, technology strategy, governance, and organizational leadership. I also teach and speak on AI security and privacy as a guest lecturer at the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business.
Much of my work outside industry reflects the institutions and communities that shaped my life. I serve on the Board of Trustees of the UC Berkeley Foundation, on advisory boards for Berkeley’s College of Engineering and the Berkeley Institute for Security and Governance, and on the board of the Community of Writers. My primary nonprofit interests include educational access, farmworker health, technology threats to human agency, and supporting rising professionals. I am an Aspen Tech Policy Fellow and served on a United Nations Strategy Council on the use of technology in development.
I have delivered commencement addresses at UC Berkeley and other institutions and speak on human agency in the age of AI, technology and responsibility, leadership, migration, belonging, and education. I am increasingly interested in the ways technology can expand human possibility without diminishing human dignity.
Earlier in my life and career, I was known as Clyde Rodriguez.
